The Gardyn Jazz Orchestra

Gardyn Jazz Orchestra was formed in direct correlation to record an album with dedicated songs and stories in honor of the family members, mentors, and friends lost these past couple of years. The day when a dear friend of mine lost his father was the day I realized my need to create an album with music driven by the stories of those who mentored and guided me musically, impacted who I am today, taught me what it truly means to be an educator, but also honor this man's memory. I realized how precious our time on this plane of existence truly is and decided to find like minded individuals to record an album with to honor these memories we all share.

Composed of world-class musicians from across the Philadelphia region, the Gardyn Jazz Orchestra has an unmistakable style and ability to inspire people - with enthusiasm, virtuosity and incredible sounds from each chart played. Experiencing the band live is always a trip! Each show is juiced with hip arrangements, strong musical soloists, and unkempt hard groovin’ swing provided by the rhythm section. Derived from the Saxon words GAR, meaning "a weapon", and DYN meaning "sound or alarm", combined with the termination ER gives the name "Gair-den-er", which means "a warrior". Put it all together and BOOM!!! I give you Gardyn Jazz Orchestra - THE Warriors of Sound.

Come experience the Gardyn Jazz Orchestra under the big top as we start the party early for Jazz Appreciation Month! Composed of world-class musicians from across the Philadelphia region, you'll be subjected to a show juiced with hip originals and arrangements alike , strong musical soloists, and unkempt hard groovin’ swing provided by the rhythm section. Featuring music from their recently released debut album such as Dinero de Sangre (a fiery latin chart sure to make you want to dance), Good Evening Mrs. Gardner (a sassy soulful chart about none other than Mrs. Gardner), and even a song about how important it is too... well Practice (yes the Allen Iverson interview transformed into a song) not to mention some fresh originals and arrangements from the pen of the maestro himself, Jon C. Gardner. Reserve your seat for your treat to a big band that is going to keep you moving and grooving all night long.
